Making use of your prior awards and qualifications through APCL
You may be able to gain exemption from parts of your course if you can provide relevant evidence to show you have already covered the subject content of one or more course modules through your previous learning.
If you have a relevant award or qualification, you may be able to gain credit for this through the process of the Accreditation of Prior Certificated Learning (APCL). You will normally need to provide evidence of your previous learning in the form of one of the following:
- a certificate
- a transcript
- a formal letter
- a pass list
Such a document should normally include the following details:
- name of the institution
- awarding body
- course title
- student name
- dates of study and
- (where appropriate) modules passed, credit points achieved and final award
Each higher education institution defines a maximum amount of credit which can be awarded towards a course through APCL.
