Design & planning

What's this about?

Every house, office block, road, bridge, or Olympic stadium has been designed.

Depending on the project and how complex it is there maybe a design team with lots of different and specialist professions working together.

From a 2D design the design will often be made into a 3D model and then before the design can be go ahead it must be approved by the planning authorities.

Planning gives an opportunity for local government planners, the public and on large projects the government to comment on proposals, ask for changes and reject or approve designs.

Maths skills and creative skills are useful in this job area.
