Being a student

Managing money, time and life!

Finding ways to manage your finances, time and life effectively will help you get on well with your studies.

Managing money

Managing your money when you are studying won't always be easy, but having a budget and making sure you get all the financial support you are entitled to will certainly help. Look at the Lifepilot section on Money matters to find out what funding may be available to you.

Keeping a work/life balance

Maintaining a good balance between different areas of your life – home, study and work (if you’re in employment) – is really important. Achieving a work/life balance will mean you are less likely to get stressed, are able to fulfil all your commitments without feeling guilty and can really enjoy what you are doing.

Try to make time for some regular exercise and remember that a good diet will feed both your body and brain.

Make time for your family and friends

The most successful relationships are between those that make spending time together a priority. Try to ensure you spend time with your family and friends as well as studying. You need to share your hopes and dreams, as well as your fears, and keep in touch with what's happening in each other’s lives.

You don't have to be a perfectionist in all aspects of your life all the time – it’s okay to let your standards slip for a while if you have an important deadline to meet.

If you're going through a particularly demanding time and you're lucky enough to have people around who are willing to help, let them.
